Wordmarks are straightforward, quick to understand, boost name recognition, and are easier to apply across a variety of mediums.

Developing a brand expansion to include a wordmark will provide local government departments and divisions with a larger set of branding tools to communicate with the community effectively and easily. Developing a cleaner, text-based logo for Albemarle County will allow employees to place the County's brand on materials that would have typically been challenging with the complicated design of the seal. 

Having a larger brand kit, beyond a seal, is considered commonplace and best practice for any organization.

The goal of this project is to expand the organization's brand while preserving and clarifying the use of the official County seal.
